Question 4 aims to establish 30-million-dollar bond for Maine trails

Maine (WABI) - Question 4 on Maine’s 2024 ballot asks voters if they’re in favor of a 30-million-dollar bond to develop and maintain trails across the state.

“Trails have a relatively really good ROI. The dollars we spend on investing in trails and the benefits we get out of that far exceeds many of our other recreational infrastructure,” said Steve Kasacek, Leadership Team, Maine Trails Coalition.

“Across the country, we’re seeing investments in the outdoors. We know that the outdoor industry is a multi-billion-dollar industry. In Maine, it’s $3.3 billion contributing to our economy, and so I think states around the country are starting to realize that if you invest in this sector and in outdoor recreation, there’s going to be a return on it,” explained Executive Director of Maine Outdoor Brands, Jenny Kordick.
